This week in grade 1!

Thanks to everyone who brought  in items for the food drive. We collected an amazing amount of  food!

I hope everyone had a good time at ICF, your costumes looked great!

Our new Unit of Inquiry is “Sharing the Planet” is well under way. This week we will be focusing on the oceans and the resources we get from them. We have been working on our own continuation to the story of the Lorax and they are looking great!

In math we are starting to look at data handling which includes data collection, and reading and creating graphs which we will connect to the unit of Inquiry.

Starting on Friday we will be using a new program called Mathletics. I will be sending the login information home on Tuesday with their homework. It is a tiny square paper. If it doesn’t make it home let me know.

Just a reminder that the deadline for the drawing contest is coming up this Wednesday October 31st. The contest details are attached in the photo below from the last blog post. The IB learner profile attributes are inquirers, knowledgeable, thinkers, communicators, principled, open-minded, caring, risk-takers, balanced, and reflective. Here is a link with a description of each of the attributes:

If it’s possible to bring back the clear homework folder everyday that would be great. Anything important that the kids will be receiving will be in those folders. Have a great week.
