We had a lot of fun during this theme, learning how technology impacts our society and digging in what would happen in a world without technology? We also connected this theme with various feelings and focused mainly on our worries. We also learned that we all have different feelings. We expressed those feelings on paper, shared them with friends, and then came up with a solution to that certain problem. We also worked together and became a stronger and more mindful grade 1. We started having great days almost everyday!
Last week we worked on our summative assessment for the unit. We planned and designed our inventions by using a variety of materials from home. We had a lot of fun researching and learning what would work best and spent lots of time thinking which invention would help people the most. To do so we need to learn how our learning cycle works. This week we did our presentations and explained the cycle to you during our conferences. They practiced so hard and even made memos to remember what to say. Hope you enjoyed it!
Maths
In math, we learned how to collect data and how to represent it. We went to Grade 2 and gathered data on which technology they use the most at home or which one they would prefer to have. We had the opportunity to not only use what we have learned during our math lessons but also become risk-takers and talk with older students.
English
Library time
We have such a peaceful time during library time. Grade 1 once a week enjoys a quiet time reading books with others.
Japanese day
We also had a very special day during our Japanese day. We started the day dancing Soran Bushi and then later on we went to the 10F to enjoy some Japanese games and even a traditional Japanese dance!
