How We Express Ourselves
As we usually do in Grade 1, we had tons of fun this unit as well. Especially, because it was about how to put our emotions and thoughts in an artistic and creative form. As you saw from our Seesaw posts we did some self expression poses as well as danced and tried to represent different things using our body. This is incredibly important for children to learn that there are plenty of ways to express emotions.
UOI
Grade 1 had a lot of fun playing and trying different art forms such as: poetry, dancing, drama, coloring, singing etc. As you saw on Seesaw we did various artistic activities. Please also remember to ask them questions about what they learn at school. Some examples are: What is a Haiku? What is a Limerick? What is Graffiti? What is Art? etc.
English
For English we focused so much on punctuation, capital letters and lower case letters as well as rhyming words. In the beginning it was quite difficult to find words that sounded similar but the more we practiced the easier it got for us.
By using Art in our creating way so many of us asked the questions how did language first appear? Some of the answers were very interesting such as: it started with sounds, people started moving their mouths, people made drawings of things etc. In this video we can see how Grade 1 creates their own language and friends try to find out what they wrote.
This theme was a lot of fun. For P.E class as well we learned how do runners build their body to maintain high levels of intensity during their training. Grade 1 got super motivated that even during Park time they worked hard to continue with their athlete's training.
Thank you so much for your continuous support. I am sure we will have lots of fun during our last theme as Grade 1 too.
