This week in grade 1!

Congratulations to Yusuke and Yuto for being the merit winners this month! They both show initiative and hard work in the classroom everyday. It is also great that everyone made it through the month with no demerits. Good work everyone!

Although we are usually respectful and well behaved, this week we had to revisit our essential agreement to remind ourselves of some important rules. Recently the level of spoken Japanese in the class has been increasing so it maybe good to talk to the students at home as well about trying our best to speak the common language at school so everyone can understand and our English will get better!

Just reminder that I sent home the login information for mathletics. It is a good idea to check out the new program this weekend. If you have lost the password let me know and I can send you a new one.

In the spirit of saving resources, which we are learning about in our unit sharing the planet, I am not going to give new plastic folders everyday. Can students please bring back the plastic folders that the homework is going home in, that way nothing important will get lost on the way home.
Thank you for sending in food for our decomposition experiment. We have observed that the natural objects are starting to decompose while the plastic things are not.

In math we have been collecting our own data to create bar graphs. In English we have been working very hard on finishing our comics about planting trees.

Just a reminder that next Thursday is parents day. Hope to see you all there.

Have a great weekend! Check out this really cool website about the different levels of the ocean.
