This week in grade 1!Here is what has been happening in the past couple weeks in grade 1...
During the unit of inquiry "how we organize ourselves" we looked at buying and selling goods and services in our class community- borrowing and carrying in addition and subtraction. We learned about money and how we need to make it to use it. The class had their own simulation of a town were they created goods and bought and sold them. We are now focusing on the early stages of multiplication.
We wrapped up our last unit of Inquiry and started a new one called How We Express Ourselves which is all about art. We have started the planning process for YEP, I know this is much later than most of you are used to but it is the students summative assignment for the final unit so they are part of the planning process.
In English we are looking at creative writing which will transition shortly in to scripts and drama as an art form.
We are in the Tuning in and sorting out phase of the unit. We have been doing colour association with feelings and figuring out what is and what is not art.
Kyle was the winner of the IB learner profile drawing. Bo and Jack were the merit winners this month as well as Shosuke and Yusuke last month.
Next Thursday is free dress day for everyone. There has been some issues in PE class but today the 2 classes sat down together and talked about how we are meant to behave and treat each other in class.
