Term 2 Week 13-Science Week

Dear Parents,

Last week we celebrated Science Week. The theme for Science Week was Sharing the Planet.  Throughout the week, we conducted many scientific research, investigations and experiments  to deepen our understanding of the topic.

On Monday, we designed a poster  showing the definition of science. The poster had messages and pictures about various aspects of science. We had a great time communicating and collaborating with our peers to  answer questions, develop crafts and use technological tools to facilitate our research.

On Tuesday , we inquired into the science of making play dough. We visited our buddy class and showed them how to make play dough using rice flour, water, oil and food coloring. We had a lot of fun mixing the ingredients and observing the various textures and patterns as we knead the dough.

On Wednesday, we conducted a scientific inquiry experiment at the park. We used soda and mentos candy to create geyser. We dropped a pack of mentos in a full bottle of soda and we were all thrilled to see the explosion.

On Thursday we went to the science lab. We carried out several experiments with our peers. We were able to discover, observe  and investigate through hands-on science activities.

We celebrated our science fair on Friday. We had the opportunity to show the skills we learned in the scientific inquiry unit. We were excited to showcase our work as well as view other students' work on a scientific method of their choice.  We were able to tackle a wide range of topics and we had a great time moving from project to project as we explore science through hands-on activities and experiments.
