Term1 Week 3

Dear Parents,

Thank you for coming to our Family Picnic! It was great to spend the day with you and the students. The students have settled into the term and worked very hard to achieve the goals they have set for themselves.

In our English class this week, we started off by looking at book reviews. We did a review of our favorite books as well as listened to the reviews of our peers. Later on in the week, we did a story map and developed our very own story plots. We also continued to work on our writing skills by using our five senses to explore the outdoors to find something from the environment for each letter of the alphabet.

In Math class, we demonstrated our skip counting skills by using some of our class objects to group by 2s, 5s and 10s. We had a lot of fun working together as we challenged ourselves to get past 100. From these hand-on experiences, we were able to tell the importance of skip counting and some of the places were this strategy would be very useful.

In Unit of Inquiry, we continued to explore the idea of Who We Are as we identified some problems that exist in  our communities. We worked together to find solutions for these problems and had a great time giving feedback to our peers. We also worked  together to conduct a research on various cultures so that we could have a better understanding and appreciation of our peers. We had a great time surfing the internet, interviewing our peers and reading various books as we tried to gather as much information as we could on our selected countries.

Have a great Golden Week,
Ms.Trichelle
