Welcome back to school! I hope everyone had a great summer vacation while spending time with family and friends. We spent three days in school for the first week.We used the time to readjust in the learning environment and make way for a fun and productive new term. This week is our first full week back at school and we are very excited to get into the learning activities.
In English, we connected with our inquiry and focused on organizing ideas in a logical sequence. We had a great time reading a variety of books and highlighting the beginning, middle and end. We were happy to work in pairs and choose our favorite books to present in class. We also continued to work on our spelling skills. We teamed up with a spelling partner and challenged ourselves to spell all the words on our word wall.
In Math, we started out by looking at simple multiplication problems. We enhanced our understanding of of the topic by analyzing the relationship between addition and multiplication. We had fun exploring our environment and creating our own multiplication word problems. We then worked in pairs and challenged ourselves to solve them.
In Unit of Inquiry, we took a deeper look at the unit. We expressed our understanding of what is a home by brainstorming. We later conducted an investigation among our peers to find out the types of homes they live in. We compared home designs with our peers and discussed ways in which homes satisfied our basic needs. At the later part of the week, we looked at houses around the world and selected a country of our choice to research in order to decide our future home ownership plans.
Have a good weekend,
Ms.Trichelle
